Visiting the website
When you visit this website, the web server processes technically necessary data (IP address, time, requested page, browser identification) in server log files. This serves the secure operation of the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Log files are deleted after 30 days at the latest, unless they are needed to investigate a security incident.
Hosting: netcup GmbH, Emmy-Noether-Straße 10, D-76131 Karlsruhe.
The website is delivered through Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA (content delivery network), which also processes the connection data above so the website loads quickly and is protected against attacks (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Data may be transferred to the USA; the provider is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (adequacy decision, Art. 45 GDPR).
No trackers, no third-party content
We only set the cookie “tq” described below and use no analytics or advertising services. Quest data, map images and the map library Leaflet are served from our own server.
Saved quest progress
What you enter (game mode, level, faction, quests, completed objectives, main story progress and your order of quests and items) and view settings (such as the selected map, hidden quests and items) are stored by your browser in local storage on your device.
As soon as you enter something, we also store this progress on our server under a random 12-character code and set the cookie “tq” containing that code. Your progress survives clearing browser storage, and the code lets you load it on another device. The progress contains no names, accounts or IP addresses. The cookie and storage are required for the function you requested (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
The cookie lasts 400 days. Progress that has not been used for 400 days is deleted by the server. “Delete saved progress” under “Code” in the menu deletes it immediately.
To prevent abuse, the server counts save requests per IP address in memory for one hour, then discards the counter.
Reports about quests
With “Report a problem” (in a quest’s ⋯ menu or in its info in the quest graph) or “No” on a quest that was added automatically, you can tell us that the site shows a quest incorrectly. We then store the quest, the kind of report, your optional text, game mode, language, level, faction, your active and completed quests, the date of our quest data and the time. We do not store your IP address or your code with it.
We only use reports to improve the quest conditions on this site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Please do not put personal data in the text. The server deletes reports after 400 days. To prevent abuse, it also counts these requests per IP address in memory for one hour.
Contact by email
If you email us, for example via “Report an error”, we process your email address, your name if given, and the content of the message to answer your request (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We delete the message once it is settled, unless legal retention obligations apply.
Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR), and the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR).
